Letter Number 2.

HIII. Okay so as far as things in the mtc go, we are literaly in class alllll day. So we learn italian pretty much all day. So we study around 6am to 8 ish, and then we eat breakfast, then we go to class for a few hours. in class we speak only italian. Then we break for lunch. Then we usually teach a lesson in italian to an "investigator" which is really one of the teachers. We speak to them in 100% italian. If we talk to them in english, they pretend to not understand us. After that we break for dinner. On tuesdays and sunday evenings we have someone from the bigleagues in the church talk to us about missionary stuff in some form of devotional. During the day at some point between 6am and 9pm we get an hour or so for working out. Our free time is filled with personal study, which includes planning for the next day, reading scriputres, or language study. Wednesdays are my only day off, and its called p day or preparation day. On Pdays we wake up at 6 am and clean a building, then we get a sack breakfast, and then we went to the temple. Around nowish, we get to read emails and write letters! So im going to be spending my time from now until 345 doing that stuff. At 345 im getting a haircut, then at 4 we start laundry. Im gunna do laundry and continue to write letters. and at 6 we eat dinner, after that its business as usual just studying and the like. We now have two investigators, Dominico and Sandra. Dominico is a high school drama teacher, and Sandra is a girl from peru! Teaching them has been a humbling experience. We work very hard and try to get as much done as we possibly can throughout the day. My district is great! Ill give you a short bio of each of them!

Anziano Luening - My companion. 19 yr old from canada! Pretty nice guy, has been in the mtc for 8 weeks, hard worker, and has a good grasp of the language. We get along pretty well most of the time!
Anziano Delgado - Very funny guy from Mesa, Arizona, our sense of humor is pretty similar, he loves key and peele, so we often quote them and nacho libre during the day. It makes the work go by faster
Anziano Espinosa - from redbluff california, thinks he isnt very good at italian, but i think he is. likes to joke around and was the first to get hit with the flu that swept through the mtc this week. Companions with Delgado
Anziano Alder- Cheerleader at Utah state, Quite the ladies man back home, Very hard worker, probably one of the hardest workers in the district. I know he is here for the right reasons, also very funny! Very talented elder
Anziano Young - Half chinese from sandy utah! SOOOOOO FUNNY, companions with anziano Alder. We call him the dictionary, because he knows a bunch of random words. He and alder get along very well and play off of eachother nicely
Anziano Lindley - Talented High school athelete from Idaho! VERY VERY smart, and good at grasping the language, a gentle soul, one filled with charity. I enjoy working with him.
Anziano Chamberlain - Musician from Sandy utah, knew anziano young pre mission, companions with Lindley. We call him webster, as he is grasping the language very quickly. Reminds me a bit of Micael Barrow!
Sorella Van Alfen - awesome sister from Vegas! We are quite good friends! Her boyfriend got home from Milan soon after she opened her call to serve there! Very sweet girl, in tune with the spirit, she is kind of the mother of our whole group, and helps us stay together well! She is full of compassion.
Sorella Hoffman - My fellow texan! A ballerina from Dallas, very cool girl! Works hard, always gets tons of letters!

Well thats all I have time for today! Ill talk to you soon! the work is going well! Sending pictures is difficult here, Ill send some home asap.

Miss Me Yet?

Hey y'all. This is Valerie and I will be in charge of posting my brother James' letters as he spends the next two years serving the Lord and spreading the Gospel of Christ. I did not fix his grammar. This is how he sent his letters. :) I hope you enjoy it!

Hey mom!

So far i've been super obedient! I only get to receive emails on Wednesday,   but if you send me mail on dear elder, i get it that day.  On day one we were given nametags and sent to our classroom to meet our companions. At first i was with elder espinosa from california and elder delgado from Arizona as a trio, but later I was reassigned. My companion  now is Elder luening from BC, Canada.  After we met our companions, they instantly started teaching us. They speak to us in class  in Italian only. Our teachers served in  italy so they are fluent. The only time we hear english is outside of class time, but even then we try to speak as much as we can. The gift of tounges is real,  As of one week, I understand much italian and am able to convey my ideas. after only ONE WEEK. Thats nuts! My companion elder luening has been here for 7 weeks,  because on his last p-day, he broke his  toe and  had to take care of that. This morning we went to the hospital for his surgery, but when we got there, his toe was looking so good, they decided not to perform the operation, what a blessing! The Lord truly looks after us. While the schedule here is strict, we wake up at 6:30 or earlier and dont return until 10:30,  the spirit here  is amazing. We work very hard, and when it is time to play, we play hard. There are about 50 of us going to  Italy  in 5 weeks, and we  often eat and play soccer together on our free time.    Oh story time, Elder leuning and I were going to get his painkillers for his foot outside of the mtc, and while we were walking there we saw a car parked on the side of the road with its flashers on.  We thought nothing of it and kept walking. When we returned, this car was rolling down the hill, into oncoming traffic!  We quickly ran into the street and stopped the car. We then had to push it to the side of the road and wait for the police to arrive. There was  no license plate on the car or any form of identification in it, very strange. While that may seem like a boring story to you, it was kind of a highlight of our day.   I love this work and italian is coming so fast, I know that this is what im supposed to be doing. I love you all and miss you tons, but this is what i Need to be doing! Im almost out of time, so ill talk to you next week!  put this on facebook or a blog or whatever youre doing.

Until next week!
